Cape Town Book Fair Project Literacy Gala dinner
Being able to read is one of the greatest gifts anyone can have.
It's a key that opens up new worlds and opportunities, and yet sadly, it's a gift that has passed many South Africans by.
The Cape Town Book Fair and Project Literacy have joined forces to host a Gala Dinner on 13 June 2008 at the Westin Grand Cape Arabella Quays Hotel to open and commemorate this year's Cape Town Book Fair, which is held under the auspices of the South African Publishers' Association and in association with the Frankfurt Book Fair. The Cape Town Book Fair runs from 14 to 17 June.
Best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith will be doing what he does as seamlessly as writing: giving an entertaining after-dinner speech for the guests.
All money raised will go towards Project Literacy's Run Home to Read Programme.
